I love PRIZES! The Bend Ale Trail turned exploring central Oregon breweries into a game and we were winners! While no purchase is necessary along this trail, the brews and other offerings are too good to pass up. While one could complete this journey alone over a weekend, a well balanced group of friends, with a wide range of tastes, will make the the experience exponentially more fun.
Our favorite road trip friends share our love of 80s music but hold wildly different opinions about what makes great beer. This makes them ideal for sharing a flight. From Darold’s love of pale ales to Jeff’s fondness for dark stouts, tasting flights at breweries are never wasted. The best part of the Bend Ale Trail is how relatively close the breweries are to one another YET some are situated in high desert and some are in the forest.
Be sure to hike/drive to the top of Pilot Butte to see how the desert’s sage brush and juniper trees on Bend’s east side stretch past 10 Barrell Brewing. Visit Drake Park and stroll along the Deschutes River and through the ponderosa pines on Bend’s west side.
