Do you ever wonder what dogs are thinking about? I read recently that it’s likely that dogs dream about those they love. I love how some dogs contentedly ponder hours away.
Geddy Lee said, “If you choose not to decide you still have made a choice.” I have decided to make better choices in my thought life. Because I have just 24 hours a day, I need to make sure that I invest my finite time into thoughts with the greatest positive return. What we pay attention to grows! I need to pay attention to all of the great things that make my life so very interesting.
Today, I decluttered part of a friend’s home. It really was small piece of a long list of things that need to be done but I’m changing my mindset and celebrating that I reclaimed about 20 square feet of her home.
I used ugly bananas to make banana bread and delivered hot loaves to friends. Ugly bananas are sweet on the inside and great for baking!
My daughter, husband and I set up an assembly line and put together nearly 100 Christmas cards for a friend. They are on the counter ready to mail and my husband will do that tomorrow. We have about 100 more to address tomorrow but I’ve decided I can knock them out with a mocha and movie. Teamwork makes the dream work.
When I look down the street, I see sparking Christmas lights. It’s beautiful and I feel a little sad that we didn’t put up lights this year. I’m grateful that those around me have done such a stunning job!
I walked in the sideways rain and my body felt good. When I’m dressed for the water, it’s fun to be outdoors.
My youngest son called and described his current adventure. He sees beauty all around.
I am so lucky to have so many GREAT small moments that make up my day!
My Year of Living Abundantly started with a visit to a new primary care doctor. After a conversation with her, I realized that I’M the one who needs to make the decision to eat well and move more AND I’m the one who’ll live with the choices I make. Though BMI and Blood Pressure may reflect my health and well being, there are other success indicators I’ve decided to track. I’m tracking a few things here so I’ll be able to review and share the highlights when I see my doctor again in December 2020. I’d love to honestly report positive things
Success Indicator Updates:
Body Mass Index: This number is holding steady.
Blood Pressure: This number is holding steady.
Healthy Fuel: For dinner tonight we enjoyed Seared Barramundi and apple-spinach salad. We’ve had fish twice this week thanks toHello Fresh!
Not so Healthy Fuel: I made a pie for dessert.
Quiet Time: I filled every void today with noise.
Nature Parks Explored: The rain was falling hard and sideways but I had time to kill so I walked along the farm roads near the Willamette River.
Spinach Salads: I had a delicious salad topped with apples, lemon and olive oil. My daughter thought it was too tart and my husband made no comment.
Beverage High in Antioxidants: I failed miserably with this goal.
Walking with My Grand Dog: I didn’t get to see my granddog today.
Sand Castles with Cute Kids: I spent no time with kids today.
I am grateful for the freedom that comes from letting things go. Over the past 18 months I’ve worked to create clutter free spaces in my home and now in the homes of others. The green bike was in my garage for far too long and now it’s blessing someone else. I love watching the adventures of Green Bike from afar. Knowing that my clutter is being used by others makes parting with more clutter even easier!
