The McMenamin’s Passport transformed my marriage! We now power date across the state just to get a stamp and free prize. The time in the car allows us to talk. We meander through parts of Oregon we might not otherwise visit and we always have FUN.
The best part about the central Oregon coast stamp is that you only need one in order to earn a prize. The photo hunt reveals that this pub, with a giant lighthouse on the side of the building, has a lot of cool artifacts and paintings. The prize for completing the search is a free appetizer. Unlike some of the other McMenamin’s, the appetizers in Lincoln City have an ocean theme. Seared ahi, crab fondue, and clam chowder are our favorites. We order just appetizers and drinks and always leave full and satisfied.
The brewmaster at this sight reminds me of a fisherman. Brewery tours earn you another free stamp and you walk away with fun stories about the location and a better understanding of brews. Every time I enjoy a Ruby ale, I think of Lincoln City.
We drive down to Road’s End State Park to watch the waves if we have to head back home soon. If it’s just the start to our Oregon Coast adventure, we head south to Depoe Bay for whale watching. There is something about a full belly that makes watching waves and wildlife more enjoyable.
The best part about living in the Portland Metro area is that the ocean is just about 90 minutes away to the west. It makes for an easy day trip–unless you’re in the mood for mountains. Mountains are 90 minutes to the east.
Oregon is the best state!
